Belarus, China to develop cooperation in geology

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) - The Research Center for Geology (Belarus) and the China Geological Survey at the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of geology. The document was signed during the Eurasian forum on geosciences cooperation and green mining investment, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus.

During his visit to China, Belarusian Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk took part in the opening ceremony of the forum. In his welcoming remarks, Andrei Khudyk emphasized the significant role played by the mining industry in the development of national economies of many countries. 

At the same time, te minister noted that this type of activity can have a significant anthropogenic footprint on the planet's ecosystems and an adverse impact on the life and health of people. In this regard, Andrey Khudyk noted that new technologies, new machines and equipment can help decrease the impact of the mining industry on the environment, reduce its footprint and harm.
"The scope of use of technologies is diverse, and the maximum effect is produced when they are used in the integrated manner. The trend towards environmental friendliness, social responsibility and transparency of corporate governance has turned into a guide to action, and those who use it will be able to take their place in the manufacturing sector and economy of the future," the minister concluded.
