In addition to the COP26 main program, the Belarusian delegation took part in a roundtable arranged by the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT). This initiate is a multi-stakeholder partnership established and funded by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF); ClimateWorks Foundation (CWF); the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU); and the Italian Ministry for Ecological Transition (MiTE). Its mission is to respond to the need to support improved transparency and capacity building under the Paris Agreement.

The participants in the roundtable discussed ways to improve national systems for monitoring, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions.

Representatives of various countries shared their expertise and knowledge in implementing ICAT projects, discussed promising areas of cooperation in the field of combating climate change.

For the first time, the Republic of Belarus became a partner of this initiative, and in 2021 the ICAT approved a country project for Belarus.
