Belarusian government approves nuclear safety technical assistance projects

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian government has approved two projects of international technical assistance in nuclear safety. The decision is stipulated by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 392 of 29 May 2024, BelTA learned from the National Legal Internet Portal.

The following projects will be implemented: “Improving the national infrastructure of radiation monitoring and emergency response system” (coordination and control will be provided by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection) and “Strengthening the regulatory infrastructure in nuclear and radiation safety at the initial stage of the nuclear power plant operation” (Emergencies Ministry).

The projects were approved on the basis of proposals of the Commission on International Technical Cooperation under the Council of Ministers.

An international technical assistance project (program) is a document envisaging a set of coordinated organizational and technical measures, united by a common goal and financed partially or in full by international technical assistance donors, including foreign currency, goods (property), performance of works, provision of services.

The resolution entered into force on 29 May.
