The Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry arranged a seminar at premises of the Orsha District Executive Committee in Orsha today in order to discuss the operation of the information resource “System for the online monitoring of environment components in the city of Orsha and Orsha District”.

The goals of the event include raising awareness of the general public about the state of the environment and making timely executive decisions at the municipal level by means of the presented information resource, which contains observation data concerning the state of atmospheric air, surface and subsoil waters, soils, background radiation, and results of local monitoring provided by users of natural resources. The resource allows analyzing their changes over time.

The information resource is hosted by the official website of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and is available by clicking the link

Chaired by Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Khudyk, the seminar gathered representatives of the ministry’s system, the Orsha District Executive Committee, the UNDP, and the International Sakharov Environmental Institute of the Belarusian State University. Representatives of interested enterprises and organizations of Orsha and the district also took part in the seminar for the sake of getting involved in the resolution of issues relating to environmental protection.

Andrei Khudyk noted: “In accordance with instructions of the head of state and a social and economic development program Orsha District has become the first region where such an information resource has been launched. We will continue making similar projects for ten other major cities (with the population of over 80,000) and will then unite them into one large-scale nationwide project, which monitors environment components online.”
