LYAKHOVICHI DISTRICT, 14 June (BelTA) - Belarusian enterprises are growing more environmentally minded, Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Khudyk told the media in the town of Lyakhovichi on 14 June, BelTA has learned.
"Every year the environmental situation in Belarus gets better across all the parameters. Emissions into the atmosphere are reduced due to the fact that users of natural resources heed to our recommendations. Water sources, both surface and underground, are improving. Now 70% of surface water sources in the country have an environmental assessment of ‘good' and ‘excellent',” Andrei Khudyk noted.
The minister noted that an increased use of recyclable containers by enterprises has had a positive impact on the environment: the volume of waste has decreased. So is the burden on the environment. Andrei Khudyk described the circulating water supply system for industrial needs as important. "It would seem that everything is simple. But these processes are quite complex, requiring initial investment. However, this is very important for the environment. Thus, we work for the benefit of future generations," Andrei Khudyk noted.
According to the minister, among the environmental violations in Belarus, the most common are unauthorized landfills, improper operation of garbage disposal sites, and non-compliance with recommendations for separate waste collection.
