MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Belarus is planning to set up a geological center together with China, Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection minister Andrei Khudyk told the media, BelTA has learned.
“Back in September of last year, we agreed to set up a joint Belarus-China geological center. Today, our Chinese colleagues reaffirmed their commitment to the project. China’s chief geologist promised to visit Belarus soon and address this issue. China has such experience. We hope that the proposals made today by our colleagues on joint projects as part of the SCO programs will become possible for our country too," the minister said.
The timeframe of the project is yet to be determined, he noted.
"We hope to get maximum benefit from this project. First of all, we need to deal with organizational issues: find finances, study the scientific and practical experience of our Chinese colleagues. We work quite closely with them in these areas. We hope the joint geological center will be established in the first half of this year. In any case, we are ready to wait because this center will be important for Belarus and our geologists," Andrei Khudyk added.
