MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined the range of tasks appointing Sergei Maslyak as Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection on 22 April, BelTA has learned.
“As for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, we have recently held a large meeting to discuss the sector. I will tell you straight: you have to dig and search for resources. You need to make everyone work in this direction. I do not believe that we do not have what we need in our lands. If you solve the issue, even partially, this accomplishment will earn you a monument,” the president said.
According to the head of state, Belarus did a good job exploring its mineral deposits. “I do not believe however that we do not have more oil deposits,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The head of state said that only one company was engaged in oil exploration and production in Belarus. According to the president, the company works well and is headed by a good specialist. The only thing is there is no competition in the area.
“We didn't invent it – healthy competition is a must. There should be more opinions, more proposals,” the head of state instructed the new minister.
