Union State MPs to consider new Chernobyl programs

MOSCOW, 18 October (BelTA) – Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will consider the status of the program to mitigate the Chernobyl impact and the development of new programs. The Parliamentary Assembly's Commission on Natural Resources, Ecology and Environmental Protection will meet in Minsk on 25 October, BelTA learned from the PA press service.


"The members will consider the H1 2022 results of the Union State program ‘Providing comprehensive medical care to certain categories of citizens of Belarus and Russia exposed to radiation as a result of the Chernobyl disaster' and the program of joint action of Belarus and Russia within the framework of the Union State to protect the population and rehabilitate the territories affected by the Chernobyl disaster,” the press service informed. “They will also discuss the preparation of the relevant Union State programs for 2023.


The MPs will review the status of the Union State program on the hydrometeorological security system of the Union State for 2017-2021 and the concept of the Union State program to ensure hydrometeorological safety in the face of climate variability and change for 2023-2027.


"The agenda of the meeting includes the new concept of the Union State program on modern technologies for geological study, rational and environmentally safe use of subsoil resources of Belarus and Russia and the Union State fishing festival,” the press service added.
