Uniqueness: The largest lake region of Belarus - Braslav Poozerje - is famous for its landscapes and landforms left by the ancient glacier. The essential treasure of the region is about 300 lakes and reservoirs - different in shape, area, depth, composition and transparency of water, diversity of flora and fauna. They are called the “blue necklace” of Belarus for their extraordinary beauty.
Relict invertebrates that are indicators of the water purity inhabit the Braslav lakes. More than 30 species of fish live here. About 35% of bird species breeding in Belarus are concentrated in Braslav District. The Braslav area is the land of islands – there are more than 100 of them on the local lakes, including unusual ones. For example, Chaichin Island on Strusto Lake has its own internal lake.
A characteristic feature of the Braslav relief is the hills, which are remarkable in shape: rounded kames and ridge-like eskers. The glacier left many stones on the territory of the region, including boulders of impressive size. The largest boulder in the Braslav area - over 40 tons - is located on the western bank of Strusto Lake.
More than 1,900 plant species grow here. With the diversity of ecosystems (forests, lakes, meadows, swamps), the fauna of the Park is very rich. Its territory is home to 312 species of vertebrate animals.
The National Park has the status of an Important Bird Area and an Important Plant Area.
