Uniqueness: Picturesque landscapes - inland dunes overgrown with pines, oxbows, aeolian hills, steep riverside terraces, etc.
In the Nature Reserve, one can encounter century-old European oaks of remarkable size (over 100 cm in diameter), ashes (older than 210 years and over 45 cm in diameter), hornbeam (over 40 cm in diameter), “collar”-shaped pine, and areas with curly birch.
In the old Neman River channel, one can encounter exceptionally beautiful associations of White Water Lily.
The Nature Reserve is a breeding site of the very rare in Belarus Goosander and Great White Egret. Colonies of White Stork (more than 20 nests) nest in floodplain oak forests.
There are 15 species of rare plants, including Pyramidal Bugle, Broad-Leaved Marsh Orchid, etc., as well as 24 species of animals included in the Red Data Book of Belarus.
The forestlands of the Nature Reserve are rich in berries and mushrooms. The most common cap mushrooms are Boletus, Aspen Bolete, Birch Bolete, Mossiness Mushroom, Annulated Boletus, and Chanterelle. Such rare species of mushroom as Sulfur-Yellow Tinder is found here.
Ecotourism services: Rental of kayaks, tents and other tourist equipment; provision of field bath services; organization of trips and hikes. There are eight recreation areas and camping sites with places for tents.
Ecological routes: A walking tourist route along the banks of the Shchara River (4-5 km); an nature trail (4.5 km); a bicycle route (32 km); water tourist routes along the Neman River (36 km) and the Shchara River (42 km). A three-day kayak route along the Shchara River (68 km).
Places of interest: A neolithic burial mound (on the left bank of the Shchara River); Holy Trinity Spring; Dugout museum near the village of Shimki.
