Was created in 1925 to protect Beaver, which at that time was endangered. It is the oldest among the protected areas that make up the natural heritage of Belarus. It comprises four types of ecosystems: dense forests, rivers, meadows and swampy bogs. Swamps occupy about 60% of the Reserve's territory, with raised bogs accounting for 5 thousand hectares. This is one of the few natural systems on Earth that counteracts the accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and prevents global climate change.
